SDGs
The project aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG13 (Climate Action). The application of DECO2 will support nations’ journey towards net zero by guiding the development of cleaner energy infrastructure with more renewable energy and less carbon emissions. This also relates to SDG1 (No Poverty) and SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), as developing low-carbon energy system would encourage more economic activities and increase job opportunities in the region. It also addresses SDG17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as the project is a result of collaboration between UK and ASEAN universities and sponsored by several UK government departments and agencies.
